Wow, talk about information overload! There is just way too much information out there, what do you believe? What don’t you believe? Who can you trust? Do they know what they are talking about?
If you are anything like me, when I found out we were expecting multiples – I headed straight to the information super highway (the internet) in search of answers! Ummm, bad idea!! I think the key here is to try and relax and live in the moment. Cross that bridge when you get there. There are a ton of support groups out there, I recommend looking for local groups around your area. Granted there are plenty of forums and places to go on the internet for information, but most of them have to do with singletons. If they are geared toward multiple births, there seems to be a lot of misinformation being spread around. This just creates fear and uneasiness in the minds of the expectant parents.
Thank goodness I came across a post recommending the book – “When you’re expecting Twins, Triplets or Quads” written by Dr. Barbara Luke. What a valuable resource this has proven to be. Not only does it ease some of the fear that was created by reading all of the crazy stuff I found on the internet. But it goes on to give detailed information on emotional swings, nutrition, exercise, work etc… If you haven’t purchased a copy, I highly recommend it. Amazon has it in hard copy and digital download…
Another good resource is a Mothers of Multiples group. We have a local group called Sonoma County Mothers of Multiples or SCMOMS. They have a website/forum and most of their activity is done on Facebook. They are a good resource of caring parents that have been there, done that or are just about to be there and do this!!!
