August 19, 2015 – 29 weeks/6 days & we have a delivery date scheduled…

On Tuesday, August 18th, we went to Kaiser SF and met with Dr. Wu, Rachel’s perinatologist.

Rachel’s feet and legs swelled up overnight, this was the first time that has happened since we traveled to Hawaii back in May. Dr. Wu said that some swelling was normal and that he didn’t think that she was experiencing blood clots or anything that we should be concerned with. Rachel’s blood pressure numbers were really good, Dr. Wu said that he wanted Rachel to do some more blood work to check for anemia (iron deficiency), this was more of a precautionary measure because of the toll that having triplets puts on a woman’s body. Rachel weighed in at 187 pounds – A funny thing happened when she stepped on to the scale – SHE DIDN’T FIT!!! She had to turn around and face backwards in order to get an accurate reading, I wish I would have had my camera ready, I missed out on a KODAK moment!!! lol 😀

Dr. Wu said that everything was going really well and that IF the babies co-operate we could choose to deliver them locally in Santa Rosa or in San Francisco between 35 & 36 weeks. This was GREAT NEWS!!! Rachel and I feel strongly that San Francisco is the best choice for us and the boys. They have all of the resources necessary and extensive experience with multiple births. Santa Rosa is unable to accommodate babies under 35 weeks. Our scheduled C-Section is for September 30th, hopefully Rachel can keep the boys growing until then. Given the choice of any day that week – Rachel chose the 30th. Something about 9/30/15 being divisible by 3? I will be sure and remind her of that reason on September 28th when she is ready to have those babies!!! 😀 On a side note, Dr. Wu kept looking at me and laughing hysterically during the whole appointment!!! He has been more than we could have asked for – displaying a perfect mix of concern, optimism & sense of humor throughout this process…

Before our appointment we stopped at Moscow & Tbilisi Russian Bakery Store on Geary Street in the Outer Richmond district… Doesn’t she look great???
